About Slightly West

How it all began....

In 2009, Janet Wilbanks (a painter living in Cheney) approached Dennis Smith (a potter living in Medical Lake) about expanding his after-Thanksgiving sale into a studio tour. The idea was to open artist’s studios and community venues in the Cheney-Medical Lake region to the public. This would allow people to see working artist studios and purchase directly from the artist.

Today the event continues as a way to showcase the talent in this part of Spokane county. We only include artists who live “slightly west of Spokane”.

How it works....

The Slightly West Studio Tour is self-guided event where you can take your time and get to know the artists and creators. Just follow the map and enjoy your day. Unlike a craft or art show, the format allows each artist to answer questions and discuss their process.
